BAD DREAMS Series #2

I woke up again from a horrible dream.

This time, instead of screaming, I started crying.

I can hardly remember the dream because I think the dream was mostly about me forgetting certain things in my past life. All I can remember is that the entire dreamed spanned about 3 days. And in that three days, I was overdosing on some drugs or on some medication that slipped me in and out of consciousness. I vaguely remember someone familiar choking me and throwing me around. I couldn't say or feel anything except see that I was suffocating. I tried to cry out but there was no one else there besides me and my assailant. Finally, when I came to, I saw my stepfather, holding a grill scraper, with an apron on.

BAD DREAMS Series #1

I just woke up from a horrible dream. And it is not the first time I've had a dream like this either. I think this would be my third or fourth time having a dream that was similar to this.
I dreamt that it was my birthday and I was heading to my birthday party. I did not know where I was going but I felt like I knew. I went to a very tall building and was at the top. I asked the receptionist where I should go because it's my birthday and I'm heading to my birthday party.

World Health Day 2015

What is ONE thing that you could do to improve your health?

I think for me, my biggest thing is that I love salt and sugar. I would just probably watch my intake on salt and sugar. My downfall is chips. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Wavy Lay's Hickory BBQ chips. They are just too good! I could literally eat an ENTIRE BAG in just one sitting. It's so terrible but true. And that's a ton of sodium and sugar. But they are just so addicting!

I'm planning to do the Stoli Guy competition this year and the Dallas Voice of Pride singing competition this year as well. I competed last year for Stoli Guy and got 1st runner-up in the Dallas Division but did not compete in Voice of Pride. I need to start working out and eating healthier and training my voice for those things and improving my health would contribute to me doing well in both competitions tremendously.

What would you guys do and what are your fitness/health goals?

Crash Course

On January 20, 2015, my husband was involved in a car accident that almost took his life. He had swerved into the left lane and a speeding red Dodge truck hit him from behind. The impact from the hit was so detrimental that it pushed him into the median on the highway and flipped over at least three times. At the time, I was at my cousins and he was on his way over for dinner. His dad knocked on the door and there he was standing there just covered in blood. At first, the only thing I could think of is what the heck happened? I was in shock that he could even be standing! It wasn't until when we got to the hospital that I broke down crying because I could see just how damaging the crash was.
The airbags did not deploy in the car so he hit his nose on the steering wheel and broke it. He also had multiple bruises on his legs and arm and chest from the seat beat. There were scratches all over his face and above his right eyelid. Both eyes were bruised as well. He said that he was fine and wasn't in too much pain, most of it was all in his nose and on his arm. As we were sitting there, waiting on his mom to get there he started to feel it coming about a little more and more.

They did a CT scan of his head, chest and arm just to make sure that nothing was too seriously broken. For sure, we knew that he had a broken nose. It was so crazy how swollen and big it was. When the doctor came back, he said that there were multiple fractures on the nose. Thankfully, nothing was moved out of place so they recommended that we go see an Ears, Nose and Throat Specialist to get a follow up and see what we needed to do after the swelling went down. They also saw that he had a little tiny crack on his skull, right were his neck and his spine met, they told us that there is nothing to worry about from it, they would just like to monitor it. Other than that, that said that his black eyes and bruises should all heal up on his own. They gave us some prescription medication for him and we ended up going home.

Flash forward to a week later, he goes in for his septoplasty which basically realigns the nose and then he put some weirdo plugs in there as well and gave him some pain medication to make everything better, but they gave him such a low dosage that two days later, we were in the hospital again because he almost OD'd from taking the medication too often than prescribed. The doctor ended up giving him a higher dosage as well as some anti-anxiety meds as well to calm him down because the doctor that performed the surgery did not tell him what they inserted into his nose. All day and night he was able to feel it, not breathe, and had a little pain from it. Because he didn't know what was in there, he was freaking out and it just increased the pain and anxiety that he was having on top of all the pain from the accident, it was just too much for him.

A week later, it was time for him to get the plugs taken out and man, those things were so HUGE! It was like an eel looking shape with plastic tubes towards the front and it was like 8" long! He almost died when the doctor was getting those out, they were in long enough that the skin almost started growing on it. Afterwards, he said that he could breathe better than before so I guess it was all worth it.

The meaning of this story is make sure that you are not recklessly driving, driving under the influence and just to look because you don't want something like this to happen to you. It was not a pleasant experience very stressful for both him and me. A lot of money out-of-pocket, and now we are out of a car since it was completely totaled and we only had liability insurance since the car was paid off.

Here are some pictures of my car so you can see the damage.

What are your scary experiences while driving? Have you been in an accident before? Let me know in the comments below!

In Your Eyes - Movie Review

Image is from Vimeo.Com, it is the image for the trailer for the movie.

I just finished watching this movie on Netflix. Overall, it was a pretty good movie. A little awkward at times but perfectly understandable. I think that is what the director was going for. It's basically a movie about this woman and this man who are telepathic and are able to hear what each other is saying. It's actually really sweet as you see the two individuals unravel their truths and help each other through their struggles. They were actually telepathic ever since they were kids, he remembers whenever she had her first boyfriend and she remembers when he got beat up because they can even feel each other as well as see what each other is seeing as well.
The movie is mostly their conversations about their lives and getting to know one another after they both freak out from noticing each other in their heads. When I was watching this I kept thinking to myself, "That would be so cool to be telepathic with someone." Especially during the part where he is asking for help on questions in a magazine. I was thinking that that would be cool for help on like a test or interview or something. Except it starts to get really weird.
They are having really personal talks about seeing who they are, their surroundings, she even helps him pick up a girl for a date. Then, he even starts talking to her right after she has sex with her husband and tells her that she smells nice and that she is a little sweaty. I told you that it's weird.
It has it's redeeming parts though. The script is pretty good. I liked the romance and the story behind it. It was really interesting seeing how everyone else saw them too. Her friend and her husband think that she is having an affair and then his job fires hm because he is scaring all the customers with his imaginary friends. In the end, I was really rooting for both of them as a couple because it was just so sweet. And I love those cheesy romance movies. It almost made me cry. Not your typical love story. Very original. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Transformation Tuesday

Happy St. Patrick's Day! It's Green Day here in Texas and it's such a beautiful day! I have a little bit to talk about before we get into today's topic. The radio yesterday said that it was going to rain today and I'm so glad that it didn't. It was just wonderful being able to look outside and feel happy and warm... literally. The past couple of weeks have just been so bipolar with the weather. See, Texas is the craziest state when it comes to weather. It could literally be snowing and icing one day, and the next, it's warm and sunny and all the snow will melt and leave all the ice there, and then the next day freeze up again. It's so crazy, I hate it. But I love it here in Texas.

I'm really excited because in honor of St. Patrick's Day, Boomerjacks (http://www.boomerjacks.com) near where I live, is having their 6th annual St. Patrick's Day Tent Party! The establishment shuts down the parking lot in the plaza that they are located in and pitches a huge tent with a band that plays around 7pm. They serve drinks and food there and will also have other vendors that you can purchase from as well. It's really cool and it's literally right in front of my apartment complex so I could just walk to and from. Oh man, I'm surprised I haven't done that so many times with all the drink specials that they have. I hope to be a regular there someday soon. We can only wish.

On to today's topic: Transformation Tuesday! I love this day. I think it's mostly fueled by my obsession with myself and how crazy I used to look in high school. The picture on the left is me back in 2009 right before I moved to Texas. I went to sushi with my friends Maddie and Hayley and it was a stressful time for me with moving and my family that I just decided to buzz my hair. I liked it for the most part. No, actually I loved it. I love having short hair. It's so easy to manage and keep up with. I hate have long hair. It looks good and is sexy and I absolutely LOVE getting my hair pulled, but I hate the maintenance that comes with it. I look like a hot ass mess in that picture. I don't know what I was thinking... but at least I looked skinny.

On the right is a picture I took a few weeks ago in my car on my way to work. I love my hair in this... well the way it looks. I'm wearing an express shirt in an almost salmon color with a blue blazer. No glasses this time, only because I am wearing sunglasses. I feel more confident and happier in this picture. I am more comfortable with myself now than I have been in years.

I guess the transformation for me is not just looks but the way I feel about myself and my life. Let me know about YOUR Transformation Tuesday! I hope you guys have a fun and fabulous and safe St. Patrick's Day!

It's been a long time

It's been a long time, shouldn't have left you, left you without a dope beat to step to, to step to, to step to...

Okay, sorry about my lame Aaliyah snippet right there. How have you guys been doing? I know it has been a long time... over two years since the last time I posted on here. Hopefully, in the next few months, I will be posting more and more on here. I have had a lot of time on my hands to think about my life and I want to share it as well as the knowledge I have with the world.

As you can see, I've updated my blog, just a little bit. I've changed the name from Writings of a Prodigy, to Hashtag Gay. The reason for that is because if you guys know me... which some of you do. You know that on my Instagram, which is @adreyyy so go follow me... ;), all of my pictures I tag with #gay. It's like my thing. Everyone who I know always asks me, "Why do you always tag #gay?". I don't really know why I do that. I think it's probably because I'm an attention whore, which I don't downplay at all and I own, but it could be because there's so many things in my life that are gay that I like to put out there.

I like labels. Okay, maybe I don't but I have accepted labels. We put labels on everything. From the color of a crayon to the color of someone skin. Everything and everyone has a label. You have a label when they decide to name you before you pop out of your mother's womb. But when it comes to people, and really a majority of people, when you put a label on them they rebel or get their feelings hurt. Being called a faggot is hurtful but asking if someone is gay shouldn't be. Why not have a gay marriage? It's still a marriage, it's just categorized for certain people.

Being gay is not a choice. It's about as optional as the culture you are born into. Some people love it, some people hate it. The truth of the matter is, we all should accept it for what it is and move on with our lives. Putting 'gay' out there is shedding light on the fact that there are people out there who don't identify with everyone else, but do at the same time. We as a society need to break down these barriers and be happy with who we are and with the people all around us.

This blog is not a new one but an evolving one so I changed the name because I am evolving too. Hashtag gay is me. I am #gay.

I plan on updating this blog at least once a week for a month to get back into the fold. It's going to be able my thoughts on what it means to be gay, updates in my life, interests that I have and more. I'm really excited to get back into writing good and solid content for you and I hope that you will be with me for a long time. Here is to next week.
